Climbing Deokyu Mountain

Hubby and I were on a hunt for some snow flowers so last Saturday we went to Muju in Jeollabuk province. Our destination… Deokyu Mountain. Here are some of our pictures.

We used a cable car going up to a certain height of the mountain and climbed up to the peak of the mountain for about twenty minutes on foot.

Descending from the mountain which has a height of 1,614 meters was really difficult. I slipped for countless times while climbing down stepping on a thickly snow covered trail that took almost two hours. We reached one Buddhist temple and from there, we had another one and a half hours of trekking!

There was I on one of the countless times that I slipped and fell.

Some really cool people went for skiing.

It was a very tiring but really worthwhile trip. I have climbed mountains several times before but this was first time for me to experience climbing a snowy mountain. It’s really fulfilling.

Of course, after all the hardships we went through, we treated ourselves with some special food before leaving the place.

Our sumptuous meal (dwenjang jiggae and lots of side dishes)

Hubby and I are planning for another mountain climbing this February. Hopefully it will be Taebaek Mt. which hubby said is easier than Deokyu Mt.

P.S. These are hardly earned pictures. I hope you like them! :-)

About banheethespectator

Hi everyone! I'm a Filipina married to a Korean. This blog is about my life here in Korea and about anything I find interesting to discuss about. Having lived for decades in the Philippines and now here in Korea as a married immigrant, I like talking about Korea's culture. I guess it's just normal for someone living in a foreign country to observe and unavoidably compare this culture from his/her own. In fact, that's one of the things I find interesting in multicultural marriages. But please don't get me wrong. I don't consider myself an expert in Korean culture. The posts you'll read here are just based on my experience and observation. If you think something is wrong, please feel free to post a comment. I also love taking pictures, so you'll see lots of photos on this blog. :-) I think blogging is not just fun but also a worthy thing to do as you can help others by providing them their needed information. Thus, I'll try as much as I can to provide valuable information through this blog. I am against blogs that give exaggerated information. Unless I'd like to make a point or put emphasis on something, this blog is not about exaggerated stories or information. That's it! Hope you guys enjoy reading this blog. Everyone is free to comment. If you think I made some errors or provided wrong information, kindly leave a comment as well. Afterall, I'm not perfect. Nobody is...
